GOALS FOR ACCOMPLISHING IN 2007

Promote an awareness, at all levels, both private and governmental, of the importance of our areas offshore lighthouses to safe navigation. Have a goal of 1000 petition signatures in support of.

Make a concentrated effort to acquire the Plum Island Lighthouse as necessary to its preservation and to continue efforts to relight it.

Develop specific plans to qualify East End Lighthouses towards the adoption of Orient Point, Little Gull and Race Rock Lighthouses and help insure them being maintained as Aids to Navigation. Work closely with elected officials. Actively pursue sources of funds both private and governmental in support of this effort.

As one of the primary means to promote awareness of our East End Offshore Lighthouses, increase the number of lighthouse and history cruises with specific invitations to organized groups.

Plan and organize one off-island lighthouse trip.

Continue Greenport's school lighthouse contest and try to interest more schools.

Obtain cooperation of the Maritime Museum to accomplish the agreed-to Bug Light maintenance tasks.

Explore with the Coast Guard a possible visit to Race Rock Lighthouse.

Increase our membership to 300.

Automate and improve the procedures of handling event income.

Assign promotional activities to a promotional manager.

Acquire and utilize additional administrative help to take care of office needs.

Research and publish a history booklet on Plum Island Lighthouse and Plum Island.
